Mary Roman, one of our staff, mentioned to me that she loves the Fiesta because it is so ‘intergenerational’.  When I asked her what she meant, she responded by saying how her 21 year old daughter still loves to come to the Fiesta and go on the ‘kiddie rides’, expressing how the Fiesta is fun for all ages.  (Personally, I think Mary likes to ride on them as well!)

Well, it is also the Feast of Pentecost as well this weekend when we celebrate the working of the Holy Spirit in the Church, in ourselves. I suppose, this Feast is a sort of ‘Fiesta among Friends’.  That is, folks crowded in an upper room, of all different shapes, sizes, languages, cultural backgrounds being formed into the Body of Christ by the gifts of the Holy Spirit….something that is still being formed in every generation in the Church.

The swirl of the Spirit has certainly been part of the month of May.  Confirmations, First Communions, First Confessions, ForChristForever Campaign, Fiesta, Academic Decathlon, and everything else going on in our community of St. Edward the Confessor/San Felipe de Jesús.  I wish to thank all the staff, volunteers, parents, and youth who have all been an active sign of the Holy Spirit engaging our parish community.  Honestly, I have a challenging time keeping up with all the activities in our parish, and because so many various things go on at the same time, it is nearly impossible to keep a parish schedule without some conflicts.  But then, it is like any family who does the best they can juggling all the various activities of their family…..sometimes we get it all right….and sometimes we miss a beat or two.  Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Queridos feligreses;

Mary Roman una de nuestras empleadas, me comento que le encantaba la Fiesta Parroquial porque era tan “intergeneracional”. Cuando le pregunté qué quería decir, ella respondió diciendo que su hija de 21 años le encantaba venirse a la Fiesta Parroquial y subirse a todos los “juegos para niños”, y que era tan divertido que incluso gente de todas las edades se podía divertir. (Personalmente, creo que a Mary es a la que le gusta subirse a los juegos!).

También es la Fiesta de Pentecostés este fin de semana celebramos la acción del Espiritu Santo en la Iglesia y en nosotros mismos. Supongo que esta fiesta es una especie de “Fiesta entre amigos”. Es decir, gente que se junta en un solo lugar, de todos los tamaños, idiomas, culturas y que forman un solo Cuerpo de Cristo por medio de los dones del Espíritu Santo…es algo que aún sigue pasando en cada generación de la Iglesia.

El Espíritu Santo ha sido como un torbellino en el mes de mayo. Con las confirmaciones, primeras comuniones, confesiones, la Campaña Cristo para Siempre, la Fiesta Parroquial, y todo lo demás en nuestra comunidad de San Eduardo el Confesor y San Felipe de Jesús. Quiero agradecer a todo el personal, los voluntarios, los padres de familia y los jóvenes que han sido como el signo vivo de la presencia del Espíritu Santo en nuestra comunidad parroquial. Honestamente, me da mucho trabajo mantenerme al día con todas las actividades en la parroquia, son varias cosas que están pasando al mismo tiempo, es casi imposible mantenerse al día sin ningún inconveniente. Ustedes lo saben mejor que yo, con sus familias, que tantas veces tienen que hacer malabares para poder cumplir con las actividades de estas…a veces lo abarcamos todo…pero a veces se nos pasa algún detalle. Gracias por su paciencia y comprensión.
