The soon to be Christ Cathedral Memorial Gardens – the newest and only ecumenical cemetery in the Diocese of Orange – is hosting a free community informational event to discuss planning the celebration of life, its burial services and products and to offer an exclusive tour of its beautiful garden-like space.

WHERE: Cathedral Memorial Gardens on the Christ Cathedral Campus (13280 Chapman Ave. Garden Grove) Directions

• Event will be held in the lawn area, just south of the cemetery on the Cathedral grounds.
• Free parking is available on-site.

WHEN: Saturday, May 18, 2013, 10 a.m. to Noon

Light refreshments will be served.

Dear Fellow Parishioners;

By now you are probably on ‘information overload’ with regard to our Diocesan Capital Campaign, “For Christ Forever”.  Between receptions, bus tours, videos, and pulpit presentations, I hope that we have informed, clarified and engaged you in being part of this great venture.  Please know that if you have more questions, you can ask our Campaign Committee members, Laurie Saine our Campaign Manager, or myself.  We are quite willing to be of assistance to you.  This is a call to join with our ‘Mother Church’, as Dr. Schuller described the Catholic Church, in creating a special place of worship and assisting the many needs of our Diocese and parish.

This weekend is also Mother’s Day.  We are distributing roses to all moms as a sign of our affection for our mothers, living and deceased.   My mom is still living in the house my father built for our family 65 years ago and while she is in her late 80’s she is still full of life and fun.  She is my link to my early years and hopefully I have not disappointed her too much (though I think she went prematurely grey because of her eldest son!  My brothers and sisters kept on the straight and narrow much better than I did).  Hopefully, today for you is a day of affection, and gratitude for the one who birthed you into this world and was the first to hold, care and nurture you as you began to understand and live in this world.  Your mom may be long deceased or she may be sitting next to you today, but whatever the case, whisper a prayer of thanksgiving and blessing for her.

Queridos feligreses;

Probablemente usted ya está “sobrecargado de información” en relación con la Campaña Diocesana, “Cristo para Siempre”. Entre recepciones, y excursiones en autobús, vídeos y presentaciones, espero que lo hayamos informado y aclarado sus dudas para ser parte de esta gran aventura. Por favor sepan que si usted tiene más preguntas, usted puede hablar con la encargada de esta Campaña, Laurie Saine ella es la Gerente de la Campaña, o también a mí.  Estamos dispuestos a ayudarle en lo que más podamos. Este es un llamado a unirse a nuestra “Madre Iglesia”, la Iglesia Católica, así como lo dijo el Dr. Schuller, esta es la oportunidad que usted tiene para crear un lugar de adoración y un lugar donde podamos solventar las muchas necesidades que hay en nuestra diócesis y nuestra parroquia.

Este fin de semana es también el Día de la Madre. Estaremos distribuyendo rosas a todas las mamás como signo de amor a  nuestras Mamás, vivas y difuntas. Mi madre sigue viviendo en la casa que mi padre construyó para nuestra familia hace 65 años y aunque ella se encuentra ya a finales de los 80s  todavía está llena de vida y entusiasmo. Ella fue el vinculo en mis primeros años de vida y espero no haberla decepcionado demasiado (creo que sus canas salieron prematuramente a causa de su hijo mayor! Mis hermanos y hermanas se mantuvieron en el buen camino, creo que mejor que yo). Espero que para usted, hoy sea un día de amor y gratitud por aquella que le trajo a este mundo, quien fue la primera que lo cuido y alimento cuando usted comenzaba a entender y vivir en este mundo. Tal vez su mamá ya haya fallecido o puede estar sentada a su lado hoy día, pero de cualquier forma, haga una oración de acción de gracias y bendición para ella.

Necesitamos su ayuda para hornear pasteles para este gran evento! Así que saquen su batidora y póngase a hornear, esto servirá para recaudar fondos en la Fiesta Parroquial!
